4 Ways to Free Yourself of Anger

Updated: Aug 3, 2018

“Between stimulus and response there is space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In those choices lie our growth and happiness.”

Stephen Covey

Freedom!

We have the freedom and power to choose how we will respond to our children, spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or to anyone else.

When we feel upset from watching our children act upset, or when we just feel out of sorts, instead of feeling powerless, choose to feel empowered, and choose to respond from love, not fear.

Steps to freedom, growth and happiness…

1. Choose to connect with yourself with the power of your breath. Push your pause button and take as many breaths as needed until calm has been restored to your body and you’ve accessed love.

2. Choose to say empowering loving thoughts to yourself. I am safe, I’ve got this, It’s all good! This is not an emergency. God is in control.

3. Choose to connect with your child with compassion and love. Once your child feels safe and connected to you he will then be able to listen and hear the necessary corrections.

4. Choose to encourage yourself! I did it… I took several breaths. I thought loving encouraging thoughts. I changed my thoughts. I regulated my emotions. I calmly connected to my child.
